lauren shut her laptop and fell back in her chair. she exhailed and looked around her room. she was about to go meet the guy she loved's girlfriend. it was definitly bound to be akaward. lo went into her closet and picked out the first thing she saw. she had been wearing her sweats. she always wore sweats around her apartment. she threw on a black dress, and got all ready to go. she grabbed her purse and sunglasses, and she was out the door.
lauren walked across the lobby of her apartment building, her mind buzzing with thoughts of what was to come. she hailed a cab with ease, and got in. fifth avenue please. she said to the cabby. he pulled away and the ride to the most akaward afternoon of her life began. lauren stared out the window at the city passing by. the rushing cars, the rushing people. it was always a busy place.
they arrived at fifth avenu and lo took a deep breath. she payed the cabby, thanked him, and got out. there was no sign of jensen. she shrugged and ran for a quick coffee. there, of course, was a starbucks right infront of her. she walked in and smiled at the girl behind the counter. grande mochalatte please? she asked. the girl got her her drink and lo handed her the money. there was no more stalling, it was time to go.
lauren walked out into the sunlight. she headed over to the meeting spot, and tapped her toe on the ground. she sipped her mochalatte as she waited. everyonce in a while lauren would look around for any sign of jensen, nothing yet. lo shrugged, and waited.

{ jensen westley ! _________________________________________________________________ jensen was off the laptop and walking around her apartment picking up various odds and ends from completely strange places. a purse was found next to the fridge, her phone from under the bed, keys on the couch, wallet in the first draw of her desk, lip gloss on the kitchen counter and shoes from the bathroom. how she managed to just know where everything was could be considered either very strange or a bad habit she probably should grow out of. throwing her shoes on and everything else shoved into her bag she went to leave when she remembered her credit card. if she didn’t have the thing she wouldn’t be able to shop and that was the whole point in her going out that day wasn’t it? well, also to meet one of jude’s best friends.
rushing around the apartment she just couldn’t think where that piece of plastic had gone. rummaging through various purses and items of clothing a sigh of disappointment was given. eyes flicked over the room and spied something from the corner of her line of vision. "ben ! oh, thank you so much boy. aren’t you such a good puppy." hurrying over to the animal in his bed, she pulled her card out from under his back paws. how her card had ended up there was a myth to her but whatever, it was totally normal for jensen westley to find things in weird places.
dressed in what she had picked up off the end of her bed this morning, a black denim mini skirt and green halter top, jensen double checked her hair in her reflection in the window of the cab she hailed by the front of the brighton apartment complex. new york city was bustling with people and jensen watched as the crowd rushed along while she sat in the cab. at the top of fifth avenue the taxi driver pulled over and jensen handed over the amount due without any problems. a decent cab driver for once, who would have thought. jensen had never been the most punctual of people, so very unlike jude who was pretty much never a second too early or too late. she didn’t know how he did it but the guy was so well put together it would almost irritate her if she didn’t adore him so much for it.
hurrying through the crowd she made it to their designated meeting spot and searched for the blonde she was to know as lauren lexington or just simply, lo. eventually seeing the girl in a black dress and a starbucks drink in hand jensen wandered over and gave a sheepish smile. "sorry i’m late. have you been here long?" words were more than sincere, after all, as far as jensen was concerned, there was no reason not to like this new friend of hers. plus, jude liked her and if she was a friend of jude then she was a friend of jensen’s. embrace the friend right?

lauren looked behind her. there just so happened to be an open bench directly behind the blonde. she shugged at the sudden luck, and walked over to it. she took a seat and looked around. still no sign of jensen. she looked to her left, and looked to her right. notta. then a shiney yellow cab pulled up right infront of lauren. this was it. a tall, beautiful, almost model like women got out of the cab. just her luck, she was perfect. lauren sighed to herself as jensen walked over to her.
lauren stood up and welcomed with girl with a sweet smile. it wasn't fully sencere. but it would due. sorry i’m late. have you been here long? lauren shook her head lightly. not long at all, she said as she lifted her drink to her lips. she gently took the straw in her mouth, and took a long sip of her drink. the cold liquid rushed down her throat. it was quite refreshing.
lo looked around, not quite sure what to do next. so, let the shopping begin, she said with a small chuckel, as she began to walk towards all the boutiques on fifth avenu. the two girls walked down the street in scilence. then, luckly, lauren spotted a quite shop that seemed to fit both of their styles. shall we try this one? she asked as they approched the enternce.
lauren looked at jensen once more. how could one girl look so perfect? it just wasn't fair to the rest of the women out there. they couldn't compete with girls like her. lauren really cared for jude, really really cared for him. she was happy to see he had found someone, but she just wished the someone he found, could have been lauren. she hated what happned between them, but at least they were able to stay friends.

{ jensen westley ! _________________________________________________________________ as the other girl noted her presence and spoke, a sigh of relief was released from the honey brunette. "oh good. i didn’t want you to be waiting around for ages for me." jensen said in a rather off hand manner. not that she meant it, it just happened. running a hand through her hair, she tried not to appear too awkward. jensen wasn’t always the best at meeting new people like this. she wasn’t sure what to talk to lo about, so far all they had in common was jude and a love of shopping. two common interests that probably half new york city’s female population had. that wasn’t meant to be a spiteful thought because jensen was pretty sure she had nothing to worry about.
the slightest of giggles was released at the other’s comment. shopping. the most relaxing form of therapy, exercise and leisure all rolled into the one activity. who would have thought? the quiet that filled the space between the two females felt ever so slightly strange. the city was buzzing around them and yet neither seemed to be able to come up with a topic of conversation. jensen smiled at lo as the blonde suggested a store. from the front it looked like a nice little store. lo had great taste.
moving forward to enter the shop, jensen held the door open for lo to enter before following the other girl into the shop. eyes immediately travelled over the racks of clothes and displays around the place, just like she always did whenever she walked into a shop. mind sorted out the colour coded arrangement of the place and the perfect layout of shirts near pants or skirts said shirts would go well with. "you just window shopping or are there some things you’re actually shopping for?" trailing after her new acquaintance, and hopefully soon to be friend, jensen tried to start a friendly conversation. as they went past various displays the girl absently ran her hand through the clothes as she walked by them, it was a habit she’d developed and didn’t realize she did. every now and then, the feel of an item would catch her attention and she’d look back to see what it was but there was yet for anything to really catch her attention.

lauren walked into the store with jensen behind her. the two girls split up. lauren crossed the room and went to one side, and jensen went to the other. lauren began sifting through the clothing. somethings were cute, somethings were.. not. she picked up a dress, and held it against her. she shook her head, and hung it back up. definitly not for her. she moved to a table with a bunch of shirts folded on it. she looked through them, but nothing caught her interest.
you just window shopping or are there some things you’re actually shopping for? lauren looked up at jensen as she spoke. uhm, not looking for anything in perticular. but i can find something anywhere. she replied with a small grin. this was definitly akaward. but it was to be expected. lauren walked up to the rack of clothing jensen was looking at. she began sifting through the clothes that hung there. what about you? she asked as she looked up at the girl quickly, then back down at the clothing.
occ; ahh. short. sorry!

{ jensen westley ! _________________________________________________________________ shifting through the clothes jensen picked out a skirt, held it out to take a better look at it before replacing it were she got it. these days, despite her impulsive nature, she was finding it increasingly difficult to find anything she actually liked and could picture herself wearing well. some people, in particular her closest friends, tended to tell her that she’d be able to make anything look good – she’d never quite been so convinced of the fact. eyes flicked over to the other girl, watching as the blonde went through items as well. the appearance of a seasoned veteran shopper held within the girl’s poise. jensen knew how to spot a person who turned shopping into an art. at least by the age of eighteen most, if not all, females had perfected such a thing.
then lauren walked up to her and she smiled. "nothing. i tend to just browse around, see if there’s anything i feel like adding to my closet. i’ve covered the basic jeans and t-shirt so there’s no wardrobe dramas." pretty much any time one saw jensen westley in the easy jeans and t-shirt combination it was because she couldn’t find anything else to wear. wondering from the back of the store to the door once again, she gave the shop one last once over before glancing at lo. the look in her eye clearly asking if the other girl was ready to leave, totally ready to turn around and head in the blonde’s direction if she did manage to find something however.
once the pair were walking together again, jensen wondered how the rest of the day would turn out. they hadn’t really had much of a conversation at the time and if it continued on this way, they were in for one very boring day. "so tell me the story of how you and jude met." on to the other topic of interest they shared, mr jude kite himself. at this rate though, they were going run out of things to discuss unless they found some more common interests and fast.
